A Pupdate for the Parents
Dear parents & adult fans of the Furever Home Friends,
This post is going to get emotional and deal with a very heavy topic, so we suggest that you read this post first, and then decide if/how you want to share it with your kids.
You may have noticed that we did not announce our fourth character this past Sunday, on September 16, like our social media had been advertising we would. We still have the 4th book in production, and this new dog will be announced likely within the coming weeks. We sincerely apologize for the delay and would like to explain why.
Part of the magic of the Furever Home Friends is that we share the stories of real dogs. However, using real dogs’ stories comes with an inherent complication: we do not know what is going to happen next in that dog’s life.
Our fourth dog sadly and unexpectedly passed away right around the time we were initially planning to announce him. We spoke with the shelter that was currently caring for him, and we all felt that it was not the right time to announce his book. Instead we decided to wait until those close to him have had some time to process this tragedy.
The timeline for this book will still remain the same. We are targeting November 23 for the book’s release date, and this book will tell a heartwarming holiday story about a dog who finds the right humans for him just in time for Christmas morning. Despite the tragic events that have just taken place, this dog still did experience a magical and life-changing Christmas, and did spend the remaining years of his life surrounded by people who loved him with all their hearts. His story is incredibly important, and we think everyone should hear it.
As many of you know, at the end of each Furever Home Friends book, we include a blurb about that dog in real life. In this book, that page will explain how this book is in memory of him. For any concerned parents, we want to let you know that this book will not be talking about death in the core story itself, but will include a tribute to this dog’s memory on the real-life page, and you can choose to share this page with your kids if you wish to.
Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions. If you’re reading this right now, we want you to know that your support has been so valuable to us throughout this journey, and we appreciate having you as a part of the Furever Home Friends family.
